Just a thought or two

So my good friend Gabrielle started a blog called, "Pack Your Bags Fatty." I was reading it just now and decided that I wanted to type some random thoughts real fast...

I get obsessed with watching people playing games on their cell phones if I can see the screen. It's fun to watch them...and usually, they're not that good at the games.

I love my Christmas tree and I want to leave it up year round.

I'd prefer, during a pedicure if the small, non-English speaking woman would just ignore the letters on my leg, scrub my feet more and don't massage my legs. That would be better.

I love Christmas!

So we got our tree on Sunday. We went even though it was absolutely rainy and horrid outside. It added to the experience.
We found our tree quickly...slightly motivated by a warm truck to be had after we found it and paid.
It took me 3 hours to put on the lights. There are more lights on this years tree than ever before. It's absolutely my favorite tree ever!
This year, not only is there every ornament from my entire life, there are Kenny's. So it's really a special tree because it's the melding of our lives in yet another fashion.
I love that tree, and I love to it in the living room and just view it! Nothing makes me happier than watching Christmas Vacation, and enjoying the glow of that tree!

The power outage!

So, since my sister is taking FOREVER to get here, I'm going to tell the story of the power outage.

I was at work with my kids last week. Jack was asleep having his afternoon nap. Chloe was watching an episode of Sponge Bob. It was 4:45, the sun was dropping and it was getting dark fast.
The power just suddenly shut off. I tried to instantly turn it into an adventure so that Chloe wouldn't get scared. She's 5 and sometimes the dark scares her. So I lit a candle quickly and we went upstairs to get Jack who had awoken suddenly when he realized his night light was "AHH" (his version of OFF).
I grabbed him, asked Chloe to run into her room to get her shoes because we're leaving soon. She went in there and by now, it was DARK. It didn't help that she has blackout blinds in her room so any residual light from the neighboring houses that did have electricity WAS NOT coming in at all. She got scared, so we just gave up on that adventure of shoe finding and went downstairs.
I told the kids to wait by the candle, where it was "light" and I went to get the shoes.
I hear Chloe yell, "Darci!!! Lou (their 4 month old puppy) peed!!" I instantly was irritated by this because if it's not one thing, it's another and I was at the end of my patience for this day.

I grabbed the candle that was hard to light in the first place. Their lighter was just about out of fluid and I was actually surprised it lit the first time.
I got close to the floor to try to find the pee so that it wasn't left on the floor.
When I got closer to it...Jack (he's 2) said....

"OOH, FIRE HOT!" He gave it his biggest breathy blow, and OUT GOES THE LIGHT!
It was so funny. It just added to the chaos of it all!

Christmas tree GETTING!

The last few days, I've felt like I did when I was a little girl waiting in angst to open Christmas presents. This time, it has nothing to do with presents. It's got everything to do with getting a Christmas tree.
It seems like it completes Christmas for me. I'm not really into the present part of it all, but I love everything else about Christmas.
The music, the decorations, the goodies, the family gatherings...NOW!!! THE TREE!

We're going to get it today, in a few minutes actually. Kenny even just put his "dirty" shoes outside, which means it's only minutes from now that we leave. Just waiting for my sister to get here.

I really love Christmas time. I hope everyone is having a fantastic holiday season...And with the economy the way it is, (I know...economy, economy, economy...it's like it's all we hear about now a days)this year I'm finding myself especially creative with gift giving...ways to do it without spending much money.
I plan to really savor every moment with family and friends, even if I usually dread it. This year, I'm going to soak it up!

Darcelle's Christmas Show 12-16-07

Last night, we went to Darcelle's Christmas Drag show. It was fun times!

We got to sit in one of the booths so there was plenty of added comfort there, not to mention great viewing!

Kenny, Gabrielle and myself met Dad and Steve at Hobo's... for a drink. (I had Diet Coke....trying to stick to Kick Start) Then we went over to Darcelle's. What a fun show!!!

Then we went with Darcelle and the rest of the group to Shanghai. Not my favorite place. Quite trashy if I do say so myself. But fun...a great show and fun to people watch there.
After that, Gabrielle and I hitched a ride with Darcelle and Roxy in a guy named Cory's car.
We ended the evening with more drag performances at CC Slaughters. It was totally a fun night, but it was a work night....so needless to say, I'm a bit tired today!

Oh Tanenbaum, Oh Tanenbaum

So last weekend, the weekend of our "Christmas Gala" I decided that it wouldn't be a gala at all without a Christmas tree.
We went to the same place that we've gone since we've been together. The guy that owns it is just the nicest little quirky fella. Has been running it for 19 years...I think that's what he said. He has a Cocker Spaniel, Matthew, that's 15 years old I think. SO OLD. SO SWEET! I'm a weak person when it comes to dogs. I LOVE DOGS! And this dog was just so nice. He just sits in the guys car and sleeps while he runs the tree farm. I think they're two peas in a pod!

Anyway, this year we brought some recruits. Matt (from Vegas) Marie, Dom, and Kathleen. Everyone got a tree except Matt, obviously.

It snowed a little bit so that made it a little more festive.

My goal is to pick the most un-wanted tree on the lot. This year, I feel we did a good job of that!
